This monumental pair of Shishi guardian lions is carved from natural jadeite and presented with exceptional sculptural authority. The figures display powerful posture, expressive open mouths, and finely articulated musculature, embodying the traditional role of Shishi as spiritual protectors.
The jadeite material shows luminous milky-white translucency with vivid green inclusions, indicating high-quality natural stone. Transparency is unusually strong for carvings of this size, placing the pair among rare large-scale jade works.
Each figure rests on a carved base, providing stability and visual contrast. The combined weight of approximately 18kg confirms these as architectural-grade objects rather than decorative figurines.
Both Shishi are accompanied by official Certificates of Gem Identification issued by the Japan Gem Grading Center, verifying natural jadeite. Certified jade guardian pairs of this scale are exceptionally uncommon.
Traditionally symbols of protection, authority, and prosperity, this pair functions today as a museum-grade interior anchor for serious collectors and institutions.
COLLECTOR’S RESONANCE
This piece is intended for collectors seeking true material authority—objects where scale, weight, certification, and cultural symbolism converge. Ideal for museum-style interiors, architectural foyers, or curated collections emphasizing jade, guardian iconography, or East Asian spiritual art.
CONFIDENCE & VERIFICATION NOTES
Material identification is supported by Japan Gem Grading Center certificates. Visual characteristics align with natural jadeite. As with all stone carvings, minor natural inclusions and internal structures are inherent and not considered defects.
