The pageantry of Versailles in quilted silk: Hermès’s Les Fêtes du Roi Soleil carré, its plumed horses and costumed riders in turquoise, coral and gold on a black ground, made into a padded jacket with a shirt collar.
The Piece
Les Fêtes du Roi Soleil recalls the carousels Louis XIV staged at Versailles, when the court rode in fantastical costume through the gardens. On this jacket the riders, feathered headdresses and garlands repeat in every panel, the carré title and the HERMÈS-PARIS cartouche appear at the hem.
The silk twill is channel-quilted over a light padding, which gives the jacket body and warmth without weight. It closes with a row of dark buttons under a shirt collar, has patch pockets set into the print, and is lined in black.
French size 38, cut long and easy. Measured flat: length 76 cm (29.9 in), chest 58 cm (22.8 in), shoulder 51 cm (20.1 in), sleeve 56 cm (22 in).

Condition
- Graded in Japan as very lightly used, with little sign of wear.
- Colours deep, quilting intact, buttons complete; any small marks are shown in the photographs.

Woven labels, size and composition labels, silk print registration, stitching and hardware are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch.
