The Piece
Between 1997 and 2003 Martin Margiela designed Hermès womenswear, and the silk outerwear of those years, cut plainly so that the carré print does the talking, is among the most sought-after Hermès ready-to-wear today.
Mythologies des Hommes gathers masks, shields, horsemen and animals into medallions of brown, ochre, silver and gold. Here it is cut into a slim, hip-length jacket with a small stand collar, a straight zip and black cuff bands; reversed, it is a sober black coat with the print showing only at the collar.
Size ME (medium). Measured flat: length 73 cm (28.7 in), shoulder 55 cm (21.7 in), chest 53 cm (20.9 in), sleeve 53 cm (20.9 in).

Condition
- Graded AB: a worn jacket in good order.
- Rubbing and light soiling at the collar and cuffs, a faint mark on the back of the black side and small scratches on the zip hardware, all shown in the photographs.
- Print bright; no holes or tears.

Authenticity & Care
Woven labels, size and composition labels, silk print registration, stitching and hardware are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch. Every piece carries the Japonista authenticity guarantee. Hang it on a broad padded hanger away from direct sun and perfume, and leave cleaning to a dry cleaner used to printed silk.
