A seated Shakyamuni Buddha rendered in jewel-toned cloisonné enamel over copper — a luminous devotional figure whose floral robe reads like a textile made of glass and light. The face and upper torso are finished in warm gilt tones, while the garment is covered in multicolored blossoms associated with Chinese cloisonné (“Jingtai-lan”) tradition and later Qing-style revival aesthetics.
This object bridges disciplines: as sacred image, it offers calm authority; as decorative arts, it offers enamel’s depth and sheen, with subtle shifts where wire partitions and enamel pools catch shadow.
Origin positioning: present as Chinese style / Chinese-origin category work, offered from Japan. Dynasty or precise dating should be treated as seller-stated unless documentation is supplied.
Who is Shakyamuni Buddha?
Shakyamuni is the historical Buddha — the awakened teacher whose life and teachings form the foundation of Buddhism. In art he is often shown seated in composed stillness, hands forming gestures that communicate protection, teaching, or meditative stability.
