A cropped trucker jacket from Celine’s The Dancing Kid period, washed to a pale vintage blue and covered in silver studs and embroidered patches, made in Japanese denim.

The Piece

The Dancing Kid was the title Hedi Slimane gave to his spring-summer 2021 menswear for Celine, filmed at a racing circuit in the south of France and steeped in skate culture, badges and teenage swagger. The name became a house motif, stitched onto patches and labels across the following seasons, and the patched denim of this period captured the mood most directly.

This is a classic four-pocket trucker in 100% cotton denim, made in Japan and washed to a light, faded blue with honest abrasion at the seams and cuffs. Silver studs are set across the whole body, collar and cuffs, and the front and back carry a collage of embroidered patches, among them THE DANCING KID, a Union Jack, NAIL ME TO THIS WAVE and Perhaps. The buttons are engraved metal shanks.

The cut is short and close, in the Slimane manner, finishing at the waist with a slim sleeve. Size XS suits a narrow frame and wears beautifully over a white T-shirt or a hooded sweatshirt.

Studded patch denim is among the most collected Celine menswear, and each one feels like a personal jacket assembled over years. This example is full of character and ready to wear.
