The Piece

This vintage Japanese sukajan is reversible and finished in pop orange. Its theme joins a rising koi fish with a Hokusai-style wave under the Onigashima name, in the rockabilly spirit of Japanese street fashion.

The rising koi recalls the legend of the carp that climbs the waterfall and becomes a dragon, a long-standing emblem of perseverance; the great wave evokes Katsushika Hokusai's celebrated woodblock imagery. Onigashima is the island of oni in the Momotaro folktale.
