Pareja de jarrones chinos de cloisonné esmaltado con dragones, fondo turquesa, estilo imperial de la dinastía Qing, 52 cm

Each of these matched cloisonné vases is wrapped by a sinuous dragon in full motion on a vibrant turquoise enamel ground. Standing about 52 cm, the pair speaks the Qing decorative language favored in palace, temple and scholar interiors, and remains structurally sound beneath honest age wear.

The Piece

This matched pair of cloisonné enamel vases reflects the refined decorative language of the Qing dynasty, distinguished by vibrant turquoise enamel grounds and animated dragon imagery. At approximately 52 cm, the vases command presence and follow forms historically favored in palace, temple and elite scholar interiors.

Each vase is wrapped with a sinuous dragon in full motion, a symbol of imperial authority, protection and cosmic balance. Rich polychrome enamels are framed by finely executed wirework, demonstrating the craftsmanship that large-scale cloisonné requires. The proportions follow classical precedent, with flared rims, rounded bodies and stable stepped bases.

Large cloisonné vases with dragon motifs were associated with authority, ritual space and visual power, and matched pairs are scarcer still, especially when scale and enamel quality are strong. As a true pair the vases offer visual harmony for formal display, and they speak to collectors of Qing decorative arts, cloisonné specialists and interior designers seeking historical statement pieces that embody both technical mastery and symbolic depth.
