Indigo denim jeans dressed in the visual language of wagara, Japan's traditional patterns: an oversized kanji rendered entirely in shimmering gold floral brocade, Nishiki-style jacquard trims and chrysanthemum embroidery. Offered new old stock with the original hang tags attached.

The Piece

These jeans are built around the woven gold textiles of Japanese ceremony rather than the heavy embroidery of biker denim. The front carries a large decorative kanji worked entirely in gold floral brocade, with matching gold panels at the front pocket openings, rear yoke and rear pocket trims, and the balance of dark indigo and luminous gold recalls Kyoto obi brocades.

The jacquard features sakura and seasonal floral motifs, with chrysanthemum (kiku) accent embroidery, while the clean, minimal denim body lets the textile artwork take center stage. The result leans toward refined Japanese luxury rather than spectacle.

Construction is classic five-pocket denim with a button waist, zip fly, brass rivets, reinforced belt loops and contrast golden stitching, in a relaxed straight-leg silhouette. The denim is cotton, the brocade a polyester jacquard.

Nishiki Weaving

The woven inserts resemble Nishiki-ori (錦織), one of Japan's most celebrated luxury weaving traditions, historically used for kimono, obi sashes, temple decoration, imperial garments, Noh costume and samurai ceremonial dress. Within the wagara (和柄) vocabulary, the chrysanthemum (菊, kiku) stands for longevity, nobility, imperial heritage and autumn beauty; sakura for impermanence, new beginnings and the fleeting nature of life; and gold for prosperity, celebration and good fortune.
