Toys McCoy's 2025 A-2 “The Body” renders Flying Fortress nose art on full-grain horsehide cut to Rough Wear contract proportions. A winged figure carrying ordnance fills the back above a bomb tally, the front keeps to squadron-style insignia, and the original tags are retained.
The Piece
Model TMJ2517 is a modern Japanese interpretation of the U.S. Army Air Forces A-2, released in the 2025 autumn/winter season as a modern archive release. It is cut in premium full-grain horsehide in a deep seal brown with a subtle reflective quality, and the construction adheres closely to Rough Wear Clothing Co. contract proportions: short body, broad shoulders, disciplined taper.
The back panel, titled “The Body,” takes its theme from Flying Fortress bomber art. A winged female figure leans forward into motion, arms extended, carrying a bomb, with gold wings arcing behind her and a bomb tally forming a quiet rhythm below. The front remains disciplined with squadron-style insignia. The art belongs to the WWII lineage in which bombers were named like lovers and flight jackets became canvases for names, faces and fantasies.
The horsehide has a tight grain, high oil content and controlled sheen, a hide that will age slowly rather than randomly. The stitching is precise, the closure is a Talon-style zip reproduced to McCoy specification, and the jacket is lined in cotton.
