The Piece

This reversible Yokosuka-style souvenir jacket, also known as a sukajan or Yokosuka jumper, is cut in velvet and embroidered with a Japanese dragon and phoenix.

In Japanese and wider East Asian imagery the dragon is a guardian of water and sky, and the phoenix (hō-ō) a bird of good fortune and renewal; set together they have long stood for balance and harmony.
