A long, padded fishtail parka from Autumn/Winter 2019 Y's, cut in a wool and polyester twill with Thinsulate insulation, a drawn waist and a deep hood.
The Piece
Y's has always borrowed from military and work clothing, and the hooded parka is one of its recurring shapes. This Autumn/Winter 2019 version, model YC-C13-108, takes the familiar fishtail form and softens it with a fluid wool blend and the line's characteristic volume.
The outer is a black twill of wool and polyester, matte and slightly brushed, padded with Thinsulate for real winter warmth without bulk. A large hood with a wired edge sits on a stand collar, the front closes with a zip and a storm placket of snaps, and a drawcord at the waist gathers the body when you want shape.
Below the waist the hem divides into the classic fishtail at the back, with its own drawcord to pull it in. Shoulders are dropped and the sleeves are long and wide, so it layers easily over tailoring or heavy knitwear.
It is a practical coat with a designer's proportions: the sort of piece that becomes the one you reach for every cold morning. Tagged size 1, it is generously cut and fits a wide range.
