The Y-3 Qasa Boot, article BB4803, the cult Qasa sneaker raised into a lace-up boot with a woven technical upper, a wide elastic strap across the foot and a side zip.
The Piece
The Qasa was one of Y-3's defining shoes of the 2010s, a sock-like sneaker wrapped in a wide elastic band and set on a cushioned, rounded sole. The Qasa Boot, of which this pair is article BB4803 and believed to date from around 2016 to 2017, extends that idea up the ankle into a lace-up boot with an almost military bearing.
The upper is a black woven textile with a fine diagonal texture, panelled with smooth leather at the heel counter and toe. The broad elastic strap crosses the instep, black laces run high up the shaft and a side zip makes it easy to get on and off. The heel carries an embossed Y-3 logo, the sidewall the Yohji Yamamoto name, and the sole is moulded with the label's graphic tread.
Size 26.5 cm (around US 8.5), outsole length 30 cm, width 10 cm and height 24.5 cm.
The Qasa family is now remembered as one of the moments when Y-3 shaped sneaker culture rather than following it, and the boot is the rarest of its forms. Worn under cropped black trousers or with a long coat, it carries the same blend of utility and severity that runs through Yohji Yamamoto's own collections.
It comes with the original Y-3 box and a set of spare laces, and offers an accessible way into the Yohji-era Y-3 footwear archive.
