Discontinued and produced in extremely limited numbers, it is a genuine hard-sided collector object rather than a Multicolore accessory.

The Piece

Its rigid rectangular architecture comes directly from the house's luggage-making tradition, but the exterior replaces traditional brown Monogram with Murakami's Multicolore on black. Dozens of LV initials and Monogram flowers in pink, yellow, blue, green, violet, orange and white create a vivid pop-art surface against the disciplined geometry of leather reinforcement, brass-tone corners and trunk hardware: nineteenth-century luggage construction meeting early twenty-first-century Japanese contemporary art.

Murakami's collaboration transformed the Monogram into one of the defining luxury graphics of the early 2000s, shifting the pattern from restrained travel heritage toward contemporary art and pop culture. While the handbags became internationally recognizable, hard-sided pieces such as the Boîte Pharmacie occupy a substantially rarer tier of production. On the black ground the saturated colors appear almost illuminated, with far greater depth than conventional two-tone Monogram.

"Boîte Pharmacie" translates literally as "pharmacy box." Inspired by specialized travel cases, the format is a compact vanity or personal-care trunk built around organized storage. The interior, lined in a soft, suede-like neutral material that calms the exuberant exterior, is divided into dedicated compartments and holds a removable fitted box, confirming that this is a purpose-built hard case rather than an oversized handbag.

Natural cowhide vachetta frames the canvas, reinforces the edges and forms the top handle; as on traditional Vuitton luggage, it develops tonal variation and patina that belong to the material history of the piece and are distinct from structural damage. Warm brass-tone hardware, corner protectors, central lock, side clasps, rivets, handle fittings and edge components, sets its aged finish against both leather and color.

At approximately 36 cm wide the trunk has the scale of a serious decorative object, suited to a collector shelf, dressing room, console, archive or retail interior. It holds three Louis Vuitton histories at once: trunk construction reaching back to the origins of the house, the Monogram as its global identity, and Murakami's Multicolore as the moment luxury fashion and contemporary art became inseparable.
