The familiar Palm Springs backpack rebuilt as a sculptural leather object. In black Monogram Flower malletage, oversized padded floral motifs and curved quilting rise from the surface, and polished gold-tone zippers cut through the darkness: quietly black from a distance, elaborately textured up close.

The Piece

Instead of conventional coated Monogram canvas, this interpretation of the Palm Springs PM is covered in dimensional leather flowers and rounded quilted forms. The motifs are not printed but built through padded and quilted leather construction, giving the surface depth, texture, shadow, relief and movement that change with the viewing angle and the light. Some flowers are broad and rounded, others smaller and more defined, and their repeated variations form a layered composition rather than a uniform repeat, an irregularity with an artisanal, decorative character.

The monochrome black leather gives the backpack a dramatically different character from traditional Monogram canvas, emphasizing the quilting, raised florals, curved stitching, surface depth and structural contours. Under directional light, highlights settle along the raised forms and shadows fall between the quilted sections. Warm gold-tone hardware at the main zippers, front pocket zipper, pulls, attachment hardware and metal fittings provides the primary contrast, a black-and-gold pairing more formal and jewelry-like than many standard Palm Springs models.

The Palm Springs PM combines a rounded top profile with a compact vertical body: top carry handle, double-zip main compartment, adjustable black shoulder straps, and a horizontal zippered pocket across the lower front, where the floral treatment continues so the pocket stays integrated into the body. The PM offers substantially more capacity than the Mini while remaining streamlined, with room for a phone, wallet, card case, keys, sunglasses, small cosmetics, a compact notebook and personal accessories. From the rear, the dark straps keep the profile monochrome.

A discontinued model reference in an uncommon luxury-leather treatment, the M54772 is at once restrained and decorative: the Monogram is no longer printed but three-dimensional, and the leather itself becomes the ornament. Because the decoration comes from texture rather than color, it is easy to style with black, white, grey, cream, camel, denim, leather, tailoring, minimal streetwear and evening casualwear.
