Hoshihime preserved the original grammar of sukajan imagery rather than parodying it: a dominant central creature, an asymmetrical balance of power, dense thread saturation and narrative violence restrained by elegance.

The dragon stands for authority, cosmic order and uncontrolled natural force; in sukajan lineage, dragons replaced tigers as the ultimate emblem of imperial power without nationality. The fierce deity is no Western demon but a warrior and oni hybrid echoing Buddhist guardian figures such as the Niō and Myōō, rendered through pop-folk stylization: its snarl, exaggerated musculature and weapon posture communicate protective force, not evil. Floral accents soften the aggression in the spirit of mono no aware, beauty coexisting with brutality.

High-count embroidery with layered color sequencing, satin that holds its sheen without puckering and clean ribbing all indicate controlled tension: production craftsmanship rather than an artisan one-off, but done with discipline.
