The Piece
Since 1959 Honma has made every club in Sakata, in Yamagata prefecture, and BERES is the series that carries the house’s full craft: forged heads, hand polishing and carbon shafts wound on site. The star grade printed on the shaft tells the tier at a glance, from two-star standard shafts to three-star premium builds and the gold-plated four- and five-star editions.
The IS-02, released in 2012, refined the BERES cavity iron with a deeper slot behind the face and a wider sole, so the ball launches high with little effort. This set runs 5 to 10, 6 clubs in all, right-handed, on Graphite Design Tour AD AD-65 shafts in regular flex.
An unusual custom build: the IS-02 heads have been re-shafted with Graphite Design Tour AD AD-65 in regular flex and fitted with Lamkin grips, giving a firmer, more stable feel than the stock ARMRQ.

Condition
- Scratches and contact marks on the heads from normal play.
- Fine scratches and contact marks on the shafts, a little more than average.
- There are neck adjustment marks, and the lofts may have been strengthened slightly; details are not known.

Authenticity & Care
The serial numbers, head and shaft markings, star grade, loft and lie stamps, grips and finish are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch. Every piece carries the Japonista authenticity guarantee. Keep the clubs dry and out of a hot car boot; wipe the heads and shafts with a soft dry cloth after use.
