The Peterson 23 in vintage-washed black canvas with embroidered piping, reference A15FW722, in EU 42 with its box, tried on only and close to new.

The Piece

Mihara Yasuhiro trained at Tama Art University and began with footwear, which is why the shoe has always been the centre of his house. The Original Sole, modelled by hand in clay by the designer and then cast in rubber, keeps the slumped, melted contours of that first sculpture, so every pair looks as if a classic vulcanised sneaker had been left too close to the stove. The Peterson is the purest expression of that idea, a cap-toe low-top that lets the sole do the talking, and the 23 is its updated, slightly fuller version.

Reference A15FW722 is attributed to the autumn-winter 2025 delivery. The black cotton canvas has been given a vintage wash so that it fades softly at the seams, and the panel joins are finished with embroidered piping rather than plain stitching. The white Original Sole has been aged to a warm ivory with a grubby, hand-worn finish, the MMY heel stamp sits in relief at the back, and the brown outsole carries the brand’s geometric tread.

On foot the shoe has real presence without the bulk of the Blakey, and the washed canvas means it looks broken-in from the first day. It sits best with wide black or grey denim and heavy sweats. EU 42 corresponds to approximately JP 26.5 cm on this last.

Condition

• Shop stock that was tried on indoors only; outsoles show almost no wear.
• Faint blue dye transfer inside the heel and toe linings, likely from socks (see interior photographs).
• A small scuff on the right heel and light rubbing at the outer heel corner.
• The aged, smudged finish of the sole and canvas is a deliberate treatment.
• Box included.
