Dolce & Gabbana: A Milan Partnership
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana began working together in Milan in 1982 and showed their first women’s collection in 1985; accounts date the house from one or the other. The second line, D&G, began in 1994 and was merged back into the main label in 2012, so pieces marked D&G are gathered here too. The house is dated in the Encyclopedia.
Pieces join the collection as the archive grows, each with its season, size and condition written into the description. The season on the inside tag is usually the surest way to date a garment.
