Jōdo Shinshū Gosoku Altar Set

This five‑piece gosoku altar implement set represents traditional Japanese Buddhist ritual furnishing used in Jōdo Shinshū practice. Finished in blackened metal with raised gold relief, the set includes candle stands, flower vases, and a central incense burner.

The forms and proportions reflect temple‑grade production rather than domestic household accessories. Surface patina indicates age and long‑term storage rather than recent manufacture.

The set consists of:
• Pair of candle stands (rōsokudate)
• Pair of flower vases (hanatate)
• Central incense burner (kōro)

Executed in blackened metal with raised gold relief decoration, the forms reflect classical temple‑grade proportions rather than household butsudan accessories. The sculptural reliefs depict narrative and floral motifs consistent with Shin Buddhist altar furnishings from the late Edo to early modern transition period.

This set appears unused but shows age‑appropriate surface oxidation and patina, suggesting long‑term storage rather than recent manufacture.
