An assembly of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, guardians and a seated monk gathers amid luminous clouds, lotus forms, halos and flames in this vintage Japanese kakejiku. Printed with woodblock-style techniques and mounted in navy and gold, the substantial 151 cm scroll serves as devotional image and distinguished focal point alike.
The Piece
The central figures are arranged in a harmonious devotional formation, a visual expression of wisdom, compassion, protection and the path toward enlightenment. Warm gold, red, blue, green and ivory tones give the image a dignified presence while preserving a peaceful, meditative atmosphere.
The artwork is a high-quality printed Buddhist image produced with woodblock-style printing techniques; it is not an original hand-painted work. It is mounted in the traditional hanging-scroll format and framed by deep navy fabric decorated with repeating gold floral and geometric motifs, in brocade or brocade-style textile.
The large vertical format suits a meditation room, Buddhist altar, yoga studio, tea room, study, spiritual retreat or Japanese-inspired interior, and the scroll is a meaningful gift for collectors of Buddhist, Japanese and spiritual art. A storage box is included.
