The Piece

Junya Watanabe MAN's work with Vanson Leathers is a long-running thread in the label's history. Vanson brings the cut and hardware of American racing jackets; Junya brings the twist, often hidden on the inside. Here the twist is a woodland camouflage lining, so the jacket reads as a pure black rider until it is opened.

The jacket is cut in horsehide, a heavier and more characterful leather than cowhide, which has developed a fine creased surface with wear. It has the asymmetric zip front, snap-down collar, zipped chest and hand pockets, coin pocket, belted waist and zipped cuffs, with a sleeve pocket on the left arm. The back is smooth with a single centre seam and side adjusters.

Inside, the blue Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons MAN label sits over the camouflage lining, marked size SS, with the Comme des Garçons care label giving the product code WT-J002.

Size SS measures 41 cm across the shoulders and 49 cm pit to pit, with a 61 cm body and 64 cm sleeve. It suits a slim man or a woman who wants a classic rider in a heavier leather.

Condition

• Used condition with natural character to the horsehide.
• Scuffing on the outside, particularly around the belt.
