A Schott One Star rider in discontinued yellow cowhide, the tall-cut version, made in the USA and kept in excellent condition.
The Piece
The Schott One Star is the original American motorcycle jacket: introduced in the early 1950s, worn by Marlon Brando's generation and by every punk band since, and still made by the family company in New Jersey. Its star-studded epaulettes give it its name. Colourways other than black have been made only occasionally and in small numbers, which is why the bright versions are sought after by collectors.
This example is in a saturated yellow cowhide with a pronounced grain. It has the classic asymmetric zip front, snap-down collar, zipped chest and hand pockets, coin pocket, belted waist with buckle, zipped cuffs and black epaulettes carrying a single metal star. The lining is a dark brown nylon. The tall pattern adds length to the body and sleeves without widening the fit.
The neck label is the Schott crest marked Made in USA, size 36 and Tall, with a Crafted with Pride in USA label and the Japanese importer's label inside. The care label is marked RN 18606 and Style 503UST, alongside import style number 7641. The pattern and star epaulettes match the One Star family.
Size 36 tall measures 43 cm across the shoulders and 51 cm pit to pit, with a 63 cm body and 63.5 cm sleeve. It suits a slim man around a UK 36 chest, or a woman who wants a classic rider in a strong colour.
