The Piece

A reversible Satori sukajan in black and brown built on the most traditional pairing in the souvenir-jacket repertoire: the ryū dragon, master of water and sky, and the tora tiger, ruler of the land. A wave in the manner of Katsushika Hokusai’s ukiyo-e prints adds movement to the composition.

The dragon and tiger have faced each other on sukajan since the first embroidered jackets were made for American servicemen in postwar Yokosuka; Satori renders them with the density of tattoo art.
