The Piece

Crafted in Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas with brass hardware, this collector-grade set pairs a hard-sided makeup trunk with an accessory mini trunk, both accented with a limited-edition kabuki-style geometric red crest motif released in 2004. The collaboration with the kabuki actor Ichikawa Ebizō set the heritage Monogram against modern red crest appliqué motifs, a cultural crossover between Parisian trunkmaking and the Japanese stage.

Kabuki, the stylized theater of the Edo period, is carried by hereditary acting lineages, and the Ichikawa line is among its most celebrated; its crests are recognized emblems of the family on and off the stage. Here that visual vocabulary meets the Maison's oldest métier.
