The Cotteville 40 M20477 wraps the Maison's compact hardsided case in Taurillon Illusion leather, where embossed Monogram drifts through pink, violet, blue, turquoise, green and yellow, framed by silver-tone corners, rivets and a hot-pink handle, from Virgil Abloh's final era at the house.

The Piece

The Cotteville 40 is one of Louis Vuitton's classic compact hardsided formats, which the Maison describes as a smaller sibling of the Alzer and Bisten trunks: rigid construction, reinforced corners, perimeter rivets, a single top handle, locking front hardware, protective edging and a structured interior. The M20477 keeps that architecture exactly and changes its emotional register entirely. The shape is heritage; the surface belongs to Virgil Abloh's menswear period.

The Taurillon Illusion treatment never separates its colors into panels. On grained Taurillon leather, embossed LV initials and Monogram Flowers rise from a continuous gradient that runs from fluorescent pink across the upper front through magenta, violet and deep blue into turquoise, emerald and acid green, with a small passage of yellow-green toward the far edge. Because the transition never breaks, every plane of the trunk shows a different fragment of the same color field.

Cool silver-tone metal replaces the warm brass of traditional Vuitton trunks and acts as a neutral frame: corner reinforcements, rivets, locking hardware, hinges, handle mounts and edging. Rows of small rivets march across pink, purple, blue and green like mechanical punctuation, while the vivid pink leather handle ties back to the upper section. The restrained, structured interior suits small accessories, jewelry, watches, documents or archive pieces, and the trunk works as much as sculpture as luggage.
