The Piece

The P9 is not a standard Speedy in a new color; its whole material language was reconsidered. Louis Vuitton describes the Speedy P9 Bandoulière 25 as made from exceptionally soft calfskin printed to recreate the look of traditional Monogram canvas, with lambskin lining, polished gold-tone hardware and an exclusive interior plaque, and credits that treatment to Pharrell Williams' creative direction at Louis Vuitton Men's. Where a canvas Speedy relies on coated resilience, the P9 is softer, more relaxed and more tactile.

The blue is neither navy nor pastel but an intense medium-to-deep tone that keeps the white LV initials and Monogram Flowers highly legible. Because the leather is softly grained and flexible, the print moves and folds with the body rather than sitting flat. Natural cowhide rolled handles and trim add a warm honey counterpoint and gold-tone hardware another layer, so the palette of electric blue, white, tan and gold reads far more graphically than brown Monogram.

The classic Speedy vocabulary remains: rounded Boston silhouette, dual rolled handles, zip-top closure, removable adjustable shoulder strap, lock, name tag and key bell.
