Louis Vuitton Capushell Mini Rose, Pink Satin Capucines with 7,000 Hand-Embroidered Glass Beads, FW23

The Capucines rebuilt as a jewel. For Fall-Winter 2023 Louis Vuitton gave its most architectural top-handle bag a thermoformed, shell-like wave base; the Rose edition then covers pink satin with approximately 7,000 hand-embroidered glass beads in rose, fuchsia, crimson, green, turquoise and violet. The Piece

The standard Capucines is defined by control: clean lines, a structured body, a disciplined base and a prominent LV signature. The Capushell disrupts that geometry with a lower edge that rises and falls in sculpted waves like the contour of a seashell, achieved by heating and molding the leather before letting it cool into its final rigid form. On the beaded Rose edition the embroidery follows that changing surface, so the decoration follows the sculpture rather than sitting on it.

Color is built bead by bead. Passages of pink are broken by deep magenta clusters, scarlet accents, emerald and olive greens, turquoise-blue highlights, lavender and plum, with small flashes of white and gold; the flowers emerge almost impressionistically rather than literally. Satin glows softly while glass flashes sharply, two kinds of shimmer on one surface that change with every angle. At the center, the oversized LV Initials signature in a pale, jewelry-like finish rises clearly above the beadwork and keeps the piece recognizably Capucines.

The single rolled top handle is matching pink calfskin, which continues through the flap and upper structure to frame the embroidery. A removable adjustable strap with five positions allows hand, shoulder or crossbody wear, and the leather interior has one open pocket. Compact as it is, the bag is best suited to carefully chosen essentials, and it has the rare quality of appearing more complex the closer you get.
