A fierce Japanese-market Clover Leaf sukajan that shifts from mythic Yokosuka spectacle to sleek color-blocked minimalism with a single turn of the zipper. Flaming dragons and a skull blaze across black and electric blue; the reverse is pure crimson and gold.
The Piece
The principal side uses a black satin body framed by vivid blue raglan sleeves and narrow red piping, a color architecture recalling vintage racing jackets and custom-car club uniforms. Across the back, a wild-maned green dragon with an ivory mane confronts a red-and-green serpentine companion amid curling orange and scarlet flames, while a skull and crossbones anchors the lower portion and “Yokosuka” sweeps across the shoulders in flowing green script. The dense multicolor satin-stitch carries strong dimensional relief through mane, scales, teeth, flames and skull contours, and the varied thread directions catch the light independently, shifting between matte shadow and metallic brightness as the jacket moves.
The front presents two large mirrored skull-and-crossbones emblems in warm ivory and black, with scarlet cloud or flame accents curling around them in a symmetrical heraldic effect, bold without overcrowding. Angled hand pockets are finished with blue arrow-shaped piping that echoes the sleeves.
Turned inside out, the jacket becomes intentionally restrained: a crimson satin body, golden-yellow raglan sleeves with matching red sleeve stripes, fine dark piping, arrow-trimmed hand pockets and striped rib-knit collar, cuffs and waistband, with no large-scale embroidery. Part varsity jacket, part racing blouson, part theatrical stagewear, it lets color and silhouette lead; one side tells a complete embroidered legend, the other becomes a sharply colored everyday bomber.
The dragon, enduring in East Asian visual culture as a sign of force, authority, natural energy and command over the elements, appears here as an untamed guardian surrounded by fire. The skull brings a Western memento mori and outlaw-fashion vocabulary of mortality, rebellion, pirate imagery, tattoo art and postwar rock culture. With the Yokosuka inscription, the composition becomes a meeting point between Japanese dragon iconography and American-influenced custom fashion, the very crossover at the heart of the satin bombers that developed in postwar Yokosuka, here captured at the moment souvenir jackets entered Y2K streetwear, tattoo graphics, rockabilly and Japanese revival Americana.

Condition
- Vintage pre-owned condition with visible signs of age, wear and previous use; the jacket remains visually striking, with the major embroidery retaining strong color and presence.
- One pocket opening on the embroidered black-and-blue side has a separated and frayed upper corner with blue binding visible, as photographed; review this carefully before purchase.
- Natural creasing, handling marks and gentle age-related variation on the satin surfaces; vintage softness and wear to the rib-knit trim.
- Loose threads and minor construction wear may be present. The polyester is more resilient than delicate rayon, but the satin still benefits from careful handling around embroidery, pocket openings and rib-knit edges.
- All photographs form an essential part of the condition record.
Fit Notes
Measured flat in centimeters following the Japonista sukajan sizing guide. Compare these figures with a well-fitting jacket rather than relying only on the estimated size category.
Styling & Display
Wear the embroidered side with black denim, boots and a plain tee to let the dragons dominate; the blue sleeves also pair well with washed denim, silver accessories and vintage sneakers. The red-and-gold side works as a cleaner retro bomber over black trousers, neutral knitwear or a monochrome base. For display, present the back flat or on a broad padded hanger so the dragons, flames and Yokosuka script read as one textile composition.
