Maqueta DeAgostini de gran escala de la máquina del tiempo DeLorean de Regreso al futuro, set con folleto adicional, en estado de proyecto

The Back to the Future DeLorean is one of the rare film vehicles that became a universal icon. This large-format DeAgostini time machine, offered with its bonus booklet set, is a project piece in honest current condition, with lights not working and fitment issues disclosed, for a collector ready to stabilize, tune and stage it.

The Piece

This large-format DeLorean time machine replica is built to anchor a room, the kind of object that turns a shelf into a small museum wall. A real production car transformed into a mythic machine, the DeLorean lives at the intersection of industrial design, cinema history and collector staging.

DeAgostini builds differ from ordinary boxed kits. Constructed as multi-part serialized builds, the finished object carries two identities: an impressive display model and an artifact of its build system, with booklets, issue materials and a project lineage that collectors recognize as part of its story. This example is presented in current condition with known functional limitations and fitment quirks, the kind of honest, lived build some collectors prefer when the display presence remains strong.

The time machine is modern myth dressed as engineering: a sleek stainless wedge shaped like the future, retrofitted with chaotic cables, vents and pseudo-scientific hardware, and made famous by the idea of time itself being hacked. The exposed rear-deck complexity is the psychological hook, the fantasy of garage science elevated into cinema, and even in imperfect condition the silhouette and density of hardware read instantly from across the room.

Pop-culture vehicle replicas endure as memory architecture, and the DeLorean maps onto real design history: 1980s futurism, a stainless automotive oddity and the era's love of visible technology. Survival of such builds is common; completeness and stability are the rare part, which makes a truthful map of what needs attention valuable.

• Model: DeLorean time machine, Back to the Future
• Type: Large-scale display model, completed build

Condition

• Offered as a project piece in honest current condition: lights not working, some fitment gaps and possibly missing or loose parts.
• Panel gaps at the doors, hood and rear deck; many can be tuned with careful hinge alignment, shimming and fastener adjustment if the underlying mounts are intact.
• Damage at the mirror mount, often repairable with careful reinforcement or replacement parts.
• The lights do not work; the cause may range from a loose connector or exhausted battery pack to missing components, and the model should be regarded as a non-working electronics display piece unless proven otherwise.
• Parts may detach during shipping; this is a hands-on collector project rather than a ready display.

Partwork Publishing Heritage

De Agostini sits at the intersection of publishing and collecting. Founded in Italy and active worldwide, it pioneered the modern partwork, serialized magazine issues paired with physical components, turning collecting into a structured experience unfolding over time rather than a single retail purchase. In Japan it became especially influential through officially licensed series, each framed editorially with history, diagrams and narrative so that the finished object could be read and studied as well as displayed.
