A vintage Audemars Piguet Cobra in solid 18K yellow gold, its champagne-gold dial set with twelve diamonds and held within an extraordinarily fluid integrated bracelet. At approximately 81.1 grams and only 5.0mm thick, it has the physical presence of fine jewelry with the mechanical purity of a hand-wound Swiss movement.

The Piece

The Cobra belongs to a particularly expressive chapter of vintage watchmaking, when the boundary between timepiece and jewelry became wonderfully blurred. Rather than treating the bracelet as an accessory to the watch head, it makes the whole composition continuous: yellow-gold links flow directly into the softly rounded case, creating a broad, scale-like surface that changes character as light moves across it. There is no excess for its own sake; the luxury comes from proportion, material, weight, texture and the continuity of case and bracelet.

Executed throughout in 18K yellow gold, the softly contoured case measures approximately 26mm across excluding the crown and only 5.0mm in thickness, an elegant, ultra-slim profile on the wrist. Despite those restrained dimensions, the precious-metal construction brings the total weight to approximately 81.1 grams. Multiple articulated links create a supple, almost woven texture that gradually widens toward the case, the bracelet tapering from approximately 20.7mm to 15.7mm, so that bracelet and case read as a single object rather than two components.

The gold-tone dial, champagne in color, continues the monochromatic architecture. In place of conventional baton indexes, the hours are marked by twelve individually set diamonds, points of light around an otherwise minimal composition, while slender gold-tone hands leave the ornament to the diamonds and the bracelet.
