A Pleats Please cardigan and maxi skirt in deep cobalt, flooded with a hand-dyed burst of saffron, teal and coral that travels from shoulder to hem.
The Piece
The tie-dye gradation prints show how far Pleats Please takes photographic printing: the pattern imitates the bleed and bloom of real shibori dyeing, but because it is printed before pleating each fold catches a slightly different tone. The style codes on this set point to around 2016.
The cardigan has a deep V-neck that crosses into a single-button front, long fitted sleeves and slightly squared shoulders. The skirt is a long, gently flared column with an elastic waist. The colour washes are placed so that, worn together, the dye appears to pour from one piece into the other.
The cardigan also works on its own with denim or black trousers; the skirt is easy with a plain cobalt or black top.
