The loud side of the 1990s Kansai O2 line: a mustard hooded jacket with a kabuki figure in red, black and gold across the whole front and the designer’s name spelt out beneath.
The Piece
Kansai O2 was Kansai Yamamoto’s diffusion line of the late 1980s and 1990s, where his stage-costume graphics met everyday sportswear. This hooded jacket wears a full-front print of a kabuki figure in a striped kimono, hands raised, with KANSAI YAMAMOTO in capitals below.
The body is a mustard cotton sweat with a drawstring hood, zip front, hand pockets and a drawstring hem; the back and sleeves are plain. The Kansai O2 woven label sits at the neck with the Kansai Company care label.
Size XL. Measured flat: length 73 cm (28.7 in), shoulder 59 cm (23.2 in), chest 59 cm (23.2 in), sleeve 55 cm (21.7 in).
