A face made of shapes: the Kansai O2 summer jumper with an abstract eye across the chest in yellow, purple and navy, knitted in a cool linen blend for the 1990s.
The Piece
Kansai Yamamoto’s knitwear of the period reads like his stage work: blocks of colour, a single oversized motif, a signature worked into the pattern. Here a stylised eye in black and white sits in a field of yellow and purple triangles, with “Kansai” knitted at the hem and vertical stripes down the back and sleeves.
The yarn is 55% linen with cotton for a dry, crisp hand; the collar, cuffs and hem are ribbed in purple and yellow. Kansai O2 label at the neck, made in Taiwan for the Kansai Company.
Size M, cut oversized. Measured flat: shoulder 64 cm (25.2 in), chest 56 cm (22 in), sleeve 57 cm (22.4 in), length 65 cm (25.6 in).

Condition
- Graded AB in Japan: a few small faint spots on the blue of the right sleeve and slight fading at the cuffs, shown in the photographs.
- Light surface fuzz as expected of a vintage knit; no holes or damage.
