Junya Watanabe MAN x The North Face AW2018 Sleeping Bag Hooded Coat, Grey and Orange, Size XS, Near Unworn with Tags

The Sleeping Bag coat from the Junya Watanabe MAN and The North Face AW2018 collection, a long hooded insulated coat rebuilt from a Dolomite sleeping bag, in grey and orange, near unworn with its hang tag.

The Piece

For AW2018 Junya Watanabe turned again to The North Face archive, and this time to the camping gear rather than the clothing. The result was a run of coats made from the brand's sleeping bags, carrying their quilting, ripstop and labelling into a garment you can wear across a city. The Sleeping Bag coat is among the most recognisable pieces from that season and remains one of the collaboration's defining shapes.

This example is built from the Dolomite bag. The body is grey and bright orange ripstop polyester, quilted in broad horizontal channels with synthetic insulation. The upper body carries a stand collar with snap placket and a fixed hood, two zipped chest pockets and a large cotton patch pocket at the hip. The Dolomite sleeping bag label survives inside the front, along with a yellow North Face logo on the inner panel, and a black Junya Watanabe MAN manifesto label is stitched to the outside hip pocket.

The care label carries the product code WB-C101 and the AD2018 date, and the coat is made in Japan. The paper hang tag is still attached, and a spare repair patch is included.

Tagged XS, the coat is long and roomy in the body, falling below the knee on most wearers, with a relaxed raglan sleeve. It wears like a modern duvet coat and suits a men's extra small to small, or a woman who wants a long padded silhouette.
