Chanel Pierced Cross Brooch with CC, Gilt Metal, Spring 1994 (94P), Boxed

A broad gilt cross with arrow-shaped arms, pierced with rows of small holes and centred on the CC. From Spring 1994 (94P), and supplied in its Chanel box.

The Piece

Byzantine-style crosses were a favourite of Gabrielle Chanel, who wore heavy gilt jewellery inspired by them, and the house returned to the motif for decades. This one is cast in relief, with a pierced lozenge at its centre and a stepped finial at the top.

The reverse carries the season stamp inside a Chanel oval, and the pin is fitted with a safety catch.
