A padded wool coach jacket from the Autumn/Winter 2022 Pour Homme and New Era collaboration, its back covered in a hand-painted Paris address and its chest carrying a printed Yamamoto quotation.
The Piece
Yohji Yamamoto and New Era have worked together for more than a decade, usually on caps, but for Autumn/Winter 2022 the partnership extended to outerwear. This coach jacket, model HE-Y90-513, takes the sportswear shape that New Era is known for and rebuilds it in the dark, matte wool of Pour Homme.
The back is painted in loose white brush lettering: YOHJI HOMME above a Paris street address, the kind of graffiti-style script that has become one of the signatures of recent Pour Homme seasons. On the front, a small block of printed text near the snap placket reproduces a Yamamoto line about black being modest and arrogant at the same time, above his signature.
It closes with snaps, has slanted hand pockets, a drawcord hem and a classic shirt collar. Inside, a quilted lining and polyester padding make it a genuine cold-weather jacket. The New Era flag appears discreetly at the cuff and on a woven label inside the neck beside the Pour Homme label.
Tagged XXL, it gives a relaxed, boxy fit that suits the oversized Yohji silhouette. An easy everyday jacket with the house's handwriting all over it.
