A Y-3 runner from 2019, the Yohji Yamamoto and adidas line, with a black mesh upper, white leather wave overlays and an exaggerated sculpted sole, complete with its box and dust bags.
The Piece
Y-3 has joined Yohji Yamamoto's way of cutting with adidas engineering since 2002, and its late-2010s runners pushed the sole unit into sculptural territory. This pair, article EH1467 with a production date of October 2019, belongs to that moment.
The upper is breathable black mesh and synthetic, wrapped by white leather overlays shaped like breaking waves, with the Y-3 logo on the tongue and heel. Beneath, a chunky, moulded sole curves up around the heel and carries the Y-3 mark in the outsole. The insole is embossed with Y-3, adidas and Yohji Yamamoto.
Tagged US women's 5, UK 4.5, FR 37 1/3, JP 230; insole length about 23 cm and sole height about 6.5 cm at the heel.
