COLLECTOR’S OVERVIEW

The principal face uses a black satin body with warm ivory sleeves, gold embroidery, patterned shoulder trim, and striped ribbing. Its back is dominated by the large inscription 傾奇御免, read as Kabuki Gomen, above crossed polearms and a paulownia-style crest. KABUKI GOMEN BACK DESIGN

The phrase may be understood loosely as “permission to live boldly and defy convention.” Here, kabuki refers to the flamboyant spirit of the historic kabukimono, unconventional warriors known for extravagant dress, personal freedom, and disregard for ordinary social expectations.

The expression has become especially associated with the legendary Sengoku-period figure Maeda Keiji and his modern popular-culture image as the ultimate free-spirited kabukimono.

Below the inscription, two silver polearms with red tassels cross over a large purple paulownia-style crest. Small pink and gold blossoms drift across the lower back, softening the martial imagery with a seasonal Japanese accent.
