Vintage Japanese Guardian Lion (Shishi) Metal Okimono with Jewel Ball
This metal guardian lion sculpture features a classic shishi pose with one paw resting upon an openwork jewel ball, symbolizing protection and authority. Finished in a green patinated surface, the piece reflects retro Japanese metalwork aesthetics inspired by traditional temple guardians.
Likely produced in the mid-to-late Showa period, this work was intended as an interior decorative object rather than a ritual artifact. The expressive carving of the mane, tail, and muscular form emphasizes visual impact and symbolic presence.
Condition shows surface wear, patina variation, and minor imperfections consistent with age and use. Please review all images carefully.
