The Piece
A reversible Satori sukajan uniting koi carp, a ryū dragon, flowers and sakura cherry blossoms. In East Asian legend, a carp that swims up the waterfall at the Dragon Gate is transformed into a dragon, so the two creatures together speak of perseverance rewarded. The blossoms add the transience celebrated in Japanese art.
The embroidery draws on Soga-style painting and ukiyo-e, filtered through the tattoo-art vocabulary that runs through Japanese biker and street fashion.
