The Piece

This reversible Satori sukajan captures the bold storytelling that makes Japanese souvenir jackets so sought after. One face presents a cool-toned blue and black satin body with a large embroidered Hannya mask on the back, a matching Hannya on the chest and floral accents that soften the fierce expression in classic Japanese contrast. The Hannya, born of Noh theatre, is among the most iconic forms in Japanese visual culture, associated with emotional intensity and with both protective and ominous symbolism.
