A green varsity jacket from the 21AW collaboration with Takashi Murakami, covered in embroidered eyes, flowers and chenille lettering.

The Piece

Cream sleeves carry rows of embroidered eyes and flowers in pink and green, while the chest holds a pink-rimmed staring eye, two cloud-like eye motifs and a handwritten definition in yellow thread. Turn the jacket around and the words “Dread and Reverence” arc in chenille letters around a single black-and-white eye.

It is a collaboration of two sensibilities, Murakami’s Superflat characters and SAINT Mxxxxxx’s devotional graphics, rendered in the construction of a classic American varsity.
