This pre-war Japanese Automatic Racing Game represents a transitional category between static vehicle toys and fully kinetic amusement devices. Designed as a tabletop racing spectacle, the piece integrates spring-assisted car launch mechanics with a decorative game-board base, transforming individual vehicles into repeatable motion play.
The game consists of a tin lithographed base housing multiple racing cars, each activated by a button-press launch system. Rather than free-wheeling play, motion is controlled, theatrical, and sequential—anticipating later post-war racing games while retaining distinctly pre-war tin aesthetics and mechanical simplicity.
