Takashi Murakami "Doraemon and Friends Under the Blue Sky" Offset Poster, ED300, Silver & Gloss Finish

Takashi Murakami fills the silhouette of Doraemon edge to edge with Fujiko F. Fujio's beloved cast, set adrift across a radiant sky-blue field. Issued by Kaikai Kiki and Zingaro in an edition of 300, this example remains unused and unopened, with its original paperwork.

The Piece

"Doraemon and Friends Under the Blue Sky" captures the unmistakable joy of Murakami's world. Rendered in brilliant sky-blue tones and punctuated with Superflat textures, the poster gathers the full cast of Fujiko F. Fujio's characters into a radiant constellation of memories: within the cheerful Doraemon silhouette, figures soar, laugh and drift across a dreamy sky, with clouds behind them, crisp outlines and meticulously layered halftones.

Created as a limited Zingaro edition, the work bridges two icons of Japanese pop culture, Murakami's hyper-colorful aesthetic and Doraemon's timeless universe. Metallic silver pigments and a high-gloss varnish give the surface a luminous depth; in person the finish creates a subtle gleam that shifts with the light and lends the characters a playful dimensionality that photographs cannot fully capture.

Murakami's reinterpretation of Doraemon is now recognized globally, and prints from this collaboration have become centerpieces of modern pop-art collections. An unused example of the edition of 300 is seldom seen, and the margins retain the crispness of a fresh sheet.
