A double rider cut from coated cotton satin and aged until it shines like old leather, from the spring-summer 2024 collection.
The Piece
Mihara Yasuhiro has long enjoyed making one material imitate another, and his riders jackets are the clearest example. For spring-summer 2024 he cut the classic asymmetric motorcycle jacket from a cotton and rayon satin, then gave it a vintage finish so the surface takes on the cracked sheen of a well-worn horsehide. It is lighter than leather and drapes more freely, yet reads as a biker at a distance.
The jacket keeps every rider detail: a wide notched collar with snap studs, an off-centre front zip, a snapped chest pocket, zipped hand pockets, zip cuffs with drop pulls and a half belt at the waist. Panels of contrasting matte cloth sit across the yoke and sides, and the shoulders are cut extra wide in true Mihara fashion. Inside is a deep burgundy lining, a house woven label, a Wearing Instructions patch and the name-and-password patch on the front pocket.
Size 44 corresponds to a medium but the silhouette is generously oversized, with a dropped shoulder and room for a knit beneath. It looks best with straight black denim and heavy boots, or over a hoodie for a more casual line.
