The Piece

Alongside the melted-sole sneakers, Maison Mihara Yasuhiro has built a small cult around its Dolls bags: soft, sewn-leather animals that are part plush toy, part accessory, and wholly in keeping with a designer who has always treated humour as a serious design tool. Each one is pieced from panels of supple sheepskin like a hand-made stuffed animal, then fitted with a zip, silver-tone hardware and a nylon webbing strap so it can be worn across the body or hung from a bag.

Reference A14BG712 is the classic of the series: a seated teddy with round ears, a faceted, seamed muzzle, plump arms and legs and a ball tail. The spine zip opens to a small lined compartment, the silver-tone clasp and swivel hook sit between the ears, and the house name is printed in white along the back.

Compact at 19 cm tall, it is the most giftable of the Dolls and the one most often clipped to a bag handle. Worn across the body on the black webbing strap, it gives a quiet outfit a flash of wit.
