A highly collectible Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse Keepall 50 M93699 from the 2009 Stephen Sprouse collection, combining classic brown Monogram canvas with oversized fluorescent orange graffiti lettering.
The iconic Louis Vuitton travel silhouette is transformed through energetic hand-drawn typography sweeping across the body, while natural Vachetta leather handles, traditional gold-tone hardware and a spacious textile-lined interior preserve the heritage character of the Keepall.
Presented in exceptionally well-preserved pre-owned condition with only limited signs of use, this example is accompanied by its padlock, leather name tag, poignet handle holder, dust bag and Louis Vuitton shopping bag.
INTRODUCTION
The Keepall is one of Louis Vuitton’s most enduring travel designs.
Stephen Sprouse turned it into something entirely different.
Across the familiar brown Monogram canvas, oversized fluorescent-orange lettering moves in every direction, fragmenting LOUIS VUITTON and PARIS into a dense field of handwritten typography.
The underlying Monogram remains visible, but it no longer controls the composition.
The graffiti does.
At approximately 50 cm wide, the Keepall gives the artwork enough scale to become almost mural-like, making this one of the most visually commanding pieces from the Stephen Sprouse collaboration.
LOUIS VUITTON x STEPHEN SPROUSE
The Stephen Sprouse collaboration remains one of the landmark artist partnerships in Louis Vuitton history.
Sprouse’s handwritten graffiti challenged the formality of the Monogram by layering expressive street-inspired lettering directly over one of luxury fashion’s most recognizable patterns.
This 2009 edition brought the graphic language back to the forefront in vivid fluorescent color, preserving the contrast between established French luggage tradition and downtown New York energy.
MONOGRAM GRAFFITI
The exterior begins with classic Louis Vuitton Monogram coated canvas.
Across it, bold orange typography is applied in an irregular hand-painted style.
Letters overlap.
Words rotate.
Individual characters disappear around seams and corners.
The result is deliberately restless and spontaneous.
Rather than behaving like a conventional repeating print, the graffiti appears to move across the entire bag.
ORANGE COLORWAY
The fluorescent orange treatment creates exceptionally strong contrast against the dark brown Monogram background.
The palette combines:
Brown Monogram
Fluorescent Orange
Natural Vachetta
Warm Gold-Tone Hardware
Brown Textile Interior
The orange remains the visual focal point from virtually every angle.
KEEPALL 50 SILHOUETTE
The Keepall 50 offers a generous travel format while retaining the rounded proportions and clean construction associated with Louis Vuitton’s classic luggage.
Design elements include:
Double rolled leather handles
Double-zip closure
Reinforced leather handle mounts
Leather side tabs
Structured travel-bag body
Spacious textile-lined interior
Leather name tag
Poignet handle holder
The large format also allows the Graffiti artwork to develop across a broad uninterrupted surface.
EXTERIOR
The exterior features:
Monogram coated canvas
Fluorescent orange Graffiti print
Natural Vachetta leather handles
Natural leather trim
Gold-tone hardware
Double zipper closure
Leather luggage tag
Leather poignet handle holder
The combination creates a piece that remains unmistakably Louis Vuitton while carrying a much more rebellious visual identity.
VACHETTA LEATHER
Natural cowhide leather is used across the handles, tabs and trim.
The leather has developed light age-related tonal change and minor surface wear while retaining a clean and refined overall presentation.
The warm Vachetta provides a softer counterpoint to the aggressive orange lettering and dark Monogram canvas.
INTERIOR
The textile-lined interior offers generous capacity for travel essentials, clothing and personal items.
Its broad opening makes packing straightforward, while the lightweight coated-canvas construction keeps the bag practical despite its large dimensions.

COLLECTIBILITY
The M93699 has strong collector appeal because it combines:
Stephen Sprouse collaboration
Fluorescent orange Monogram Graffiti
Keepall 50 format
2009 collection
Discontinued production
Large-scale artwork
Classic Monogram canvas
Marc Jacobs-era Louis Vuitton
Exceptional visual recognition
Well-preserved condition
The orange version is particularly striking because of the intense contrast between fluorescent lettering and traditional brown Monogram.
DESIGN CHARACTER
This is a bag built on contradiction.
The Keepall itself is deeply traditional.
The Graffiti treatment is intentionally disruptive.
The Vachetta and gold hardware speak the language of Louis Vuitton heritage.
The fluorescent orange lettering behaves more like paint sprayed across a wall.
That collision is exactly what gives the bag its enduring energy.
ART AND FASHION SIGNIFICANCE
The Stephen Sprouse project belongs to a defining period when Louis Vuitton began treating artist collaborations as more than decorative capsules.
The Monogram itself became material for artistic intervention.
On the Keepall 50, that idea becomes especially powerful because the travel format provides such a large visual field.
The bag functions simultaneously as luggage, fashion archive and graphic object.
STYLING
The orange-and-brown palette works particularly well with:
Black
Cream
White
Denim
Military green
Charcoal
Minimal tailoring
Leather outerwear
Monochrome travelwear
Because the bag already carries tremendous visual impact, understated clothing allows the Graffiti surface to remain the focus.
WHY IT IS SPECIAL
Few Louis Vuitton travel bags are recognizable from across a room.
This one is.
The fluorescent Graffiti completely changes the familiar Monogram without erasing it, creating a design that feels simultaneously historic and confrontational.
More than a decade later, the effect remains remarkably contemporary.

On Heritage, Craft & Structured Permanence
Louis Vuitton originates in trunk construction—discipline of canvas, reinforced corners, and travel durability. Modern garments and accessories carry this structural logic forward.
At Japonista, LV works are evaluated as engineered luxury systems. Canvas resilience, leather oxidation, stitching precision, and hardware patina are examined as chronological evidence rather than surface ornament.
Natural aging—subtle vachetta darkening, canvas softening—is documented as part of material lifecycle when integrity remains intact.
Attribution, Rarity & Condition Integrity
Certain LV works correspond to artist collaborations, runway capsules, or discontinued silhouettes.
Restorations, if present, are disclosed transparently.
Collectors may request production-year clarification prior to acquisition.
Inquiries, Availability, and Private Consideration
Vintage and rare modern luxury works may include archival runway pieces, boutique-limited releases, discontinued silhouettes, or early-production constructions no longer replicated by the maison.
Restorations, when present, are disclosed transparently. Replacement hardware, re-lined interiors, or minor leather conditioning interventions are documented where observable.
“Rare” classification reflects documented scarcity, design discontinuation, or limited distribution—not speculative language.
Collectors are encouraged to request further clarification regarding era attribution, run history, or condition mapping prior to acquisition.

Before Proceeding
We kindly encourage collectors to review our shop policies and preservation guidelines, available through the links in our website footer, outlining handling precautions, environmental considerations, and condition disclosure standards specific to fragile figurative and textile works.
Provenance, Documentation & International Considerations
Luxury garments are presented as collector-grade fashion archives, not affiliated with or endorsed by the originating maisons.
Buyers are responsible for reviewing international import duties, exotic material regulations (where applicable), and customs classifications prior to purchase.
Japonista does not facilitate transactions in violation of applicable law and may require additional documentation for certain materials or shipping destinations.
All provenance details provided reflect inspection-based assessment and available documentation at the time of listing.
