A rare Louis Vuitton x Richard Prince Weekender GM M95735 from the 2008 Cruise collection, finished in the distinctive Monogram Pulp treatment with layered watercolor-style lettering over Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas.
The large-format Boston bag combines pale blue-grey canvas with luminous yellow-green, turquoise, orange and violet painted effects, natural leather handles and warm gold-tone hardware.
Presented as unused with an unusually complete accessory set, this is a serious collector piece from one of Louis Vuitton’s most important artist collaborations of the Marc Jacobs era.
INTRODUCTION
This Weekender GM is not subtle.
Richard Prince’s treatment turns the familiar Monogram surface into something closer to a painted urban wall: oversized fragments of LOUIS VUITTON and PARIS drift across the canvas in translucent yellow, green, blue and orange, while the original Monogram remains visible underneath.
The pale blue-grey ground gives the color treatment a washed, almost sun-faded atmosphere, while the mustard-yellow leather handles and trim sharpen the composition.
At approximately 48 cm wide, the bag has enough scale for the artwork to breathe.
This is one of those Louis Vuitton collaborations where the bag itself becomes the canvas.
LOUIS VUITTON x RICHARD PRINCE
The M95735 belongs to Louis Vuitton’s 2008 Cruise Richard Prince collaboration.
Japanese dealer references identify the model as the Monogram Pulp Weekender GM Jaune, introduced in 2008 under the Marc Jacobs and Richard Prince collaboration.
The collection’s visual language used painted, layered and altered Monogram surfaces rather than simply applying a new print to an existing bag.
That distinction is central to its collector appeal.
MONOGRAM PULP
The Monogram Pulp treatment overlays the traditional Louis Vuitton Monogram with glossy, painterly color.
The collection theme described as “After Dark,” with vivid gloss-processed paint effects applied to Monogram canvas.
The result is layered rather than flat.
You can still read the Monogram beneath the oversized lettering and translucent color fields.
JAUNE COLORWAY
This example is the Jaune variation.
The palette includes:
Pale blue-grey
Mustard yellow
Lime
Turquoise
Orange
Violet
Muted red
Natural leather
Gold-tone hardware
The yellow leather handles and trim tie directly into the painted color treatment and make the bag feel more cohesive than a random multicolor composition.
WEEKENDER GM SILHOUETTE
The Weekender GM is the larger and rarer format within the Weekender family.
A specialist resale reference describes the GM as the larger version and notes its suitability as a large tote or compact duffel.
Its broad rectangular body gives it substantial presence without losing the proportions of a luxury travel bag.
EXTERIOR
The exterior features:
Monogram Pulp coated canvas
Natural leather handles and trim
Gold-tone hardware
Double-zip opening
Front leather strap detail
Protective base studs
Leather luggage tag
Padlock and clochette set
The overall visual language is unmistakably early-2000s Louis Vuitton runway-era experimentation.
INTERIOR
The interior includes:
1 zippered pocket
1 large interior pocket
2 smaller interior pockets
1 D-ring for keys or accessories
The bag’s scale makes it genuinely practical for travel rather than merely decorative.

ART AND FASHION SIGNIFICANCE
The Richard Prince collaboration belongs to a period when Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs was aggressively redefining what luxury Monogram could become.
Instead of treating Monogram as untouchable heritage, artists were invited to disturb it, repaint it, enlarge it and reinterpret it.
The Weekender GM is especially effective because its large surface area allows that intervention to become almost poster-like.
This makes the bag appealing not only to Louis Vuitton collectors but also to buyers interested in artist collaborations and early twenty-first-century fashion history.
STYLING
This is not an understated bag.
It works best with:
Black
Cream
Denim
Olive
Neutral tailoring
Minimal travelwear
Monochrome outerwear
The artwork should be allowed to dominate the outfit.
WHY IT IS SPECIAL
Most Louis Vuitton travel bags are recognizable because of their silhouette.
This one is recognizable because of its surface.
The Monogram is still there, but Richard Prince has turned it into background texture beneath a wash of oversized text and color.
The result feels closer to wearable art than ordinary luggage.

On Heritage, Craft & Structured Permanence
Louis Vuitton originates in trunk construction—discipline of canvas, reinforced corners, and travel durability. Modern garments and accessories carry this structural logic forward.
At Japonista, LV works are evaluated as engineered luxury systems. Canvas resilience, leather oxidation, stitching precision, and hardware patina are examined as chronological evidence rather than surface ornament.
Natural aging—subtle vachetta darkening, canvas softening—is documented as part of material lifecycle when integrity remains intact.
Attribution, Rarity & Condition Integrity
Certain LV works correspond to artist collaborations, runway capsules, or discontinued silhouettes.
Restorations, if present, are disclosed transparently.
Collectors may request production-year clarification prior to acquisition.
Inquiries, Availability, and Private Consideration
Vintage and rare modern luxury works may include archival runway pieces, boutique-limited releases, discontinued silhouettes, or early-production constructions no longer replicated by the maison.
Restorations, when present, are disclosed transparently. Replacement hardware, re-lined interiors, or minor leather conditioning interventions are documented where observable.
“Rare” classification reflects documented scarcity, design discontinuation, or limited distribution—not speculative language.
Collectors are encouraged to request further clarification regarding era attribution, run history, or condition mapping prior to acquisition.

Before Proceeding
We kindly encourage collectors to review our shop policies and preservation guidelines, available through the links in our website footer, outlining handling precautions, environmental considerations, and condition disclosure standards specific to fragile figurative and textile works.
Provenance, Documentation & International Considerations
Luxury garments are presented as collector-grade fashion archives, not affiliated with or endorsed by the originating maisons.
Buyers are responsible for reviewing international import duties, exotic material regulations (where applicable), and customs classifications prior to purchase.
Japonista does not facilitate transactions in violation of applicable law and may require additional documentation for certain materials or shipping destinations.
