Louis Vuitton Vertical Soft Trunk M45079, Monogram Tuffetage Yellow Embroidery, Virgil Abloh Spring 2020

A trunk turned upright for the street: the Vertical Soft Trunk from Virgil Abloh’s Spring–Summer 2020 collection, in the Tuffetage canvas where every Monogram motif is raised in bright yellow embroidery.

The Piece

The Tuffetage technique tufts the Monogram flowers and LV initials in yellow thread over a black ground, giving the canvas a velvety relief that reads from across the room. The trunk corners are capped in black leather with matte black hardware, and the zip opens the full width of the top.

It carries two ways: by the short black leather top handle, or across the body on the chain and leather shoulder strap, adjustable between about 113 and 123 cm (44.5 to 48.4 in). Inside, a black textile lining with one flat pocket.

Measures 12.5 × 20 × 7.5 cm (4.9 × 7.9 × 3 in). Date code MB3189; dust bag included.

Condition

• Graded A in Japan: the embroidery, canvas and straps are clean with no visible marks.
• Light scratches and small chips to the finish of the corner hardware, shown in the photographs.
• Faint rubbing on the leather trim; the interior is clean.

Date code, Monogram alignment, heat stamp, vachetta trim, stitching and hardware engraving are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch.
