A white denim trucker from Louis Vuitton's spring-summer 2023 season, printed with oversized Monogram flowers in a soft indigo that imitates Japanese shibori resist-dyeing.
The Piece
Shibori is the Japanese art of binding, folding and stitching cloth before it meets the indigo vat, leaving blurred, radiating patterns where the dye could not reach. For spring-summer 2023 Louis Vuitton borrowed its look for denim, scaling the Monogram flowers up and letting their edges bleed as if tied and dyed by hand.
The jacket is a classic trucker in white cotton denim with blue contrast topstitching. Large indigo Monogram flowers sit at the centre of a geometric web of fine lines that mimics shibori stitching, repeated across body and sleeves. Two flapped chest pockets with engraved LV shanks, buttoned cuffs and a tan suede Monogram patch at the back waist complete it. Lined in cotton. Made in France.
Size 44 is a neat, true fit with a short body, suiting a slimmer frame. With white or indigo trousers it feels crisp and quietly Japanese.
